Tom has been President of the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center since August 2003. He has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Broadway League since 1999 and a voter for Broadway’s Tony Awards since 1997. He is a co-producer/investor in productions for Broadway, Off-Broadway, national tours, Australia and London’s West End, including Legally Blonde, 9 to 5, Frost/Nixon, The Color Purple, Little Women, The Full Monty, Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands and The Car Man, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, Flower Drum Song, Man of La Mancha, Bombay Dreams, Starlight Express, Three Mo’ Divas, High Fidelity, Dirty Dancing, A Catered Affair and Basic Training. He received Tony Awards as a co-producer of Monty Python’s Spamalot and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
He serves on the Executive Committee of the Independent Presenters Network, the Board of Audience Rewards, and the Finance Committee of the National Alliance for Musical Theater.
Previously he served as the founding Managing Director of Pepperdine University’s Center for the Arts in Malibu, Executive Director of the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Denver, Executive Director of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts in Green Bay, and Assistant to the Director at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts in Arizona.
He holds an MBA in Arts Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, as well as a BA in Music Performance from Pepperdine University in Malibu where he also attended Law School. He is a lecturer in arts management at Davidson College.
