To employ the arts as a vehicle to strengthen education, communities and audiences throughout the central Carolinas and beyond.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

On behalf of Blumenthal Performing Arts, the Education Department strives to enhance a strong and vital relationship with community organizations and schools throughout the Central Carolinas. Through a variety of educational and awareness programs, the Education Department seeks to bring the performing arts to a diverse population within our extended community and to bring the community to Blumenthal Performing Arts’ theaters.

Some of the Education Department’s specific programs include partnering with schools to bring teaching artists into classrooms; bringing school groups to weekday matinees of the Blumenthal’s most popular shows; hosting affinity group gatherings for teachers (Teachers Lounge) and students (Charlotte Live); holding lecture demonstrations, master classes, open rehearsals, and pre-and post-show discussions.

THE BLUMEY AWARDS

In May 2012, Blumenthal Performing Arts will honor the excellence in high school musical theater with the launch of The Blumey Awards.
